Plasma

Grey, as if a smoke had colonized my body.
Arteries run dry like summer streams,
they crack, collapse from lack of blood;
years ago they filled themselves with life,
so lost, didn’t know the cost of these bad dreams.
But I hadn’t even checked cause
I liked my life a mess back then.

My heart has fallen asleep,
my eyes are swollen shut,
my lungs have forgotten
what they need to breathe.

Heartache and growing pains and
rough days could never keep me away.
Mistakes and wrong words said
wouldn’t leave me with nothing to say.

Dull, just like the pavement of the streets I walk on,
smothered by the dirt and filth that
people bring, life altering marks of disrepair.
But I hadn’t even checked cause
I liked my life a mess back then.

My heart has fallen asleep
my eyes are swollen shut,
my lungs have forgotten
what they need to breathe.

Heartache and growing pains and
rough days could never keep me away.
Mistakes and wrong words said
wouldn’t leave me with nothing to say.

All I know is this heavy flow is
bringing me down.
All I know is this heavy flow is
bringing me down.
And I can remember when times were bright,
when we spent the days only you and me,
wasting life away.

My heart has fallen asleep,
my eyes are swollen shut,
my lungs have forgotten
what they need to breathe.

Heartache and growing pains and
rough days could never keep me away.
Mistakes and wrong words said
wouldn’t leave me with nothing to say
